“Two weeks after I was in my fulltime faculty position with my own lab, I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer myself, underwent chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation while I was seeing patients in clinic and doing my own colorectal cancer research,” said Deming, who serves as a medical oncologist at the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.
