And here’s where things get a bit tricky: While the scientific community hasn’t found conclusive evidence that MSG causes health issues like headaches, they also can’t deny that many people over the years have reported experiencing problems after eating something containing MSG. In fact, the American Academy of Audiology states that MSG might be a trigger for vestibular migraines. What’s more, the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health has “a good general rule” for their headache elimination diet: avoid foods that contain MSG. These can include processed and canned foods, gravies, salty snacks, soups made from bouillons, ready-to-eat meals, veggie burgers, croutons, and breadcrumbs.
