Badgers fans from all over came back to Madison for the time-honored tradition of the University of Wisconsin-Madison homecoming on Saturday.

A week of celebrations came to a head with festivities before the Badgers football game. For many, this week was a return to favorite traditions.

Former Badgers Brian Butch, Charlie Wills will be part of radio broadcasts

Wisconsin Badgers fans will be familiar with the names behind the new voices on the radio broadcast for the 2023-24 men’s basketball season.

The university announced Thursday that former UW big man Brian Butch will join the Badger Radio Network as the lead men’s basketball analyst for game broadcasts, working alongside longtime play-by-play man Matt Lepay. Additionally, former Badgers forward Charlie Wills will fill in as analyst for some games.

Wisconsin men’s basketball adds former players as radio analysts

Brian Butch, who scored over 1,000 points in four years with the Badgers from 2004-08, will take over as the lead men’s basketball analyst for the Badger Radio Network beginning this season, Wisconsin Athletics said in a release. Charlie Wills, who won a Big Ten title in 2002 and was a member of Wisconsin’s Final Four team in 2000, will also join the team by filling in as an analyst for select games.

Wisconsin spent more than $167 million in 2022-23, according to unaudited figures presented Wednesday at an Athletic Board committee meeting.

That’s 13% over the $148 million that was budgeted, and senior associate athletic director Adam Barnes attributed most of it to the move from Paul Chryst to Luke Fickell in football.

Wisconsin opens Big Ten play against Michigan State on Dec. 5, then plays three more nonconference opponents before its Big Ten schedule resumes against Iowa on Jan. 2. ‘Camp Randall Club’ aims to help Badger fans support the team

A new membership system is being offered to Badger fans to receive new benefits in supporting their team. The Camp Randall Club allows fans to pick from five levels of membership ranked by stars. The One Star level begins at $250 and features benefits like access to the Luke Fickell Radio Show, a t-shirt and a discount on Badger merch.
